Fibre
Secondary fibres used in recycled paper production come from two channels: pre and post-consumer waste paper. The former is scrap and waste from transformation production upstream of the papermaking chain. The second is printed material discarded by consumers and large-scale distribution that is sorted and prepared before being reintroduced into the production cycle. Preference is also given to wood from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) certified sources that guarantee both its origin and traceability in order to ensure correct environmental resource management.

Water
Programmes are used to constantly improve the level of effluent water treatment before it is returned to the environment. At the end of the process, after water has been recycled numerous times within the system, it undergoes depuration. The entire cycle is managed so as to reduce water taken from external sources while favouring recycling.

Energy
They are self-sufficient, producing all the energy they need from power production plants, reducing fuel use and, consequently, emissions into the atmosphere. Cogeneration plants using natural gas and the use of production waste and recovery of steam to feed plant systems contributes to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.

Fibre
Raw material is sourced from sustainable-managed plantations and regrowth forests. The fibres are sourced from Local and International suppliers who practice sustainable management of forests in line with strict international standards. All suppliers operate under ISO 14001 or FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) accredited environmental systems and practices.

Water
Water from the Shoalhaven River is supplied to the Mill by the Shoalhaven City Council from its Flat Rock pumping station upstream of Nowra. The Mill processes the water so it is suitable for paper production in it's own water treatment plant. The Effluent Treatment Plant is designed to treat waste water generated in the Mill to a standard acceptable by the New South Wales Department of Environment and Climate Change (NSW EPA) for discharge back into the Shoalhaven River.

Energy
Comes from steam that is produced in coal-fired boilers. The gas emissions from the boilers are filtered through a fabric filter or bag house with the quality of the emissions exceeding the requirements of the New South Wales Department of Environment and Climate Change. The ash from the boilers is collected by a submerged conveyor, transported via a skip hoist to a storage hopper prior to being trucked off site for use as a horticultural product.
